Project description
Audi AG has planned a completely new car factory in the industrial area “Böllinger Höfe”. On an area of 23 hectares, the car manufacturer built the sports car factory for the R 8 on the greenfield site – for around 200 million euros.
Not only the dimensions of the new automobile plant are impressive – even the record-breaking construction period. It took less than three years from the conclusion of the contract to the purchase of the site, the construction of the large halls and the start of production.
In addition to the production hall for the R 8 sports car, a new logistics center has been built. The high-bay warehouse has a storage area of 45,000 square meters – equivalent to about six football fields. Every day, 160 trucks are dispatched at the goods receipt and around 9,000 containers are moved per day. From here, the plant in Neckarsulm will also be supplied with the parts for automobile production.
