Project description

The client, the district authority of Pankow in Berlin, intends to construct so-called “temporary supplementary school buildings” as part of the Berlin School Construction Offensive (BSO).

At the 3 primary school locations Elizabeth-Shaw primary school, primary school Am Hohen Feld and Arnold-Zweig primary school in Berlin-Pankow, the supplementary building for 250 schoolchildren each will be erected in modular construction.

The buildings of building class 3, each consisting of a two-storey, square compact structure, without basement. The ground floor is barrier-free with a covered external staircase and designed as a modular type building in steel frame construction. The façade design is characterised by the upright window formats. Due to the modular construction, there is a possibility of extension, but this is not planned at these locations.

For sustainable reuse, it is assumed that the temporary school extension buildings can be dismantled with reasonable effort at the end of the planned holding period at the locations or, if necessary, moved to another location (modular construction).
